As committed as ever to Diversity, this year’s theme encouraged OneLife employees to try out another department to their own for the day.  We asked: are you in Finance and want to see what goes on in the Investments team?  Or maybe you’re in Customer Services and you’ve always wanted to know what they do in Risk & Compliance? 

With diverse human expertise throughout the company, specialised teams dealing with different aspects of our life assurance wealth solutions proposition and a team spirit needed to make it all gel together, we celebrated Diversity Day in style!  OneLife launched the “One Day in my Life” programme aimed at allowing employees to try something different and visit another department for the day. 

Two colleagues who responded to our survey changed their jobs for a day.

Gregory moved from Customer Services to the Wealth Structuring team for the day.  He shared his impressions: “I work all day in responding to our partners and clients policy servicing queries.  And in my new team, I got insight into how OneLife puts the value proposition together.  How we cater to specific client needs and structure the life assurance policy to fit the individual’s own case.  For each request, there is a systematic approach to finding the solution.  A lot of background research, exchange of views between the different members of the team and diversity in the types of cases they look at, so communication within the team and also with other stakeholders in the company is key to success.”   

 

And Christine, also from the Customer Services team, selected the Tax & Legal department for the day to discover more about the side of their work she’s not familiar with.  She was enthusiastic: “The team has a great team spirit and a lot of diversity in terms of handling subjects for different markets and in a variety of languages. 

The experience made me see that precision is essential and that the more information they receive in the requests we make to them then the better. 

It allows them to analyse, decide and respond effectively and rapidly.  It increased my understanding of our business, in particular our international expertise in tax matters, both on a corporate and client level, and gave me insight into how they add all-round value.”

 

OneLife’s CEO, Antonio Corpas, is a strong advocate of our company’s diversity programme:  “One Day in my Life was born out of a will to raise awareness amongst our employees of the wealth of expertise we have at OneLife.  Giving colleagues the opportunity to share knowledge across departments and to discover the essence of how we bring value to partners and clients on a daily basis is fundamental to the collaborative spirit we enjoy at OneLife”.

The One Day in my Life initiative will continue, to allow another dozen or so colleagues throughout the year the opportunity to experience something new. It’s all about Excellence, Attentiveness and Trust, OneLife’s corporate Values!
